A new high-tech powered solution from WAISL, which has transformed how airports in India are run, is now set to be implemented in European hubs.
WAISL’s AeroWise, an Airport Predictive Operations Centre (APOC) system, has already been deployed at Hyderabad Airport where it has “revolutionised the running of the airport” and is being installed in Delhi.
The platform integrates landside, terminal and airside systems to create a hyper-efficient operating process that predicts problems and offers solutions. All data is collaged on a single platform, so it can be used to track people and aircraft across the airport.

A solution for UK airports facing capacity constraints
With many of the UK’s airports, including its major hubs facing capacity constraints, there is enormous pressure on airport operators and authorities to increase infrastructure.
According to Andy Bordass, who is heading up WAISL’s European AeroWise roll-out, the system is a “game changer,” for airports.
An industry veteran who has worked in the sector for many years, Bordass said: “I am well aware of the stress our airports are under and the need for efficiencies and increased capacity.
“There are so many systems used in airports, but they are rarely integrated and usually operate independently of each other.”
In response, he explained that WAISL has enabled the integration of all these systems. “In Hyderabad it has successfully integrated more than 40 IT and OT systems. It monitors more than 100 KPIs, provides real-time insights and enables far better planning, faster incident responses, enhanced safety and high levels of passenger satisfaction.”
According to WAISL’s data, where installed AeroWise has delivered 30 per cent improvement in staff and resource utilisation, 25 per cent reduction in turn-around delays and an 80 per cent reduction in manual surveillance workloads.

“It leads to shorter queues, better security, reduction in missed flights and baggage mishandling, improved traffic and parking solutions and large savings. It also increases sustainability and environmental protections,” added Bordass.

AeroWise’s benefits for retailers and passengers
Airport retailers and other partners benefit from having more flights in slots, more passengers on seats and more freight in the air. Meanwhile passengers benefit from a more efficient, improved airport experience.
Describing the UK’s aviation network as second only to China and India’s, Bordass underlined to remain at the top of the game, the UK’s airports have to be improved.
“With physical improvements so difficult, technology is the only option and WAISL’s AeroWise is a terrific solution.
“The time it takes to get it up and running depends on the size of airport and the number of systems to integrate – it took 30 months in Hyderabad, an airport with almost 30 million passenger journeys a year.
“Thanks to AI and the tech pioneers at WAISL we now have a system that can deliver what European airports desperately need.”
